With a contract with Palmeiras until the end of 2026, Weverton’s name is starting to be talked about in the market. At 37 years old, the Palmeiras goalkeeper became a target for Grêmio and caught the attention of Bahia after losing position to Carlos Miguel due to a broken hand.
Weverton has not played for Alviverde since October, when he was diagnosed with a crack in his hand. No official contact was made with the 21 alviverde shirt.
There was a rumor that Bahia had secured the signing of Weverton for next season. However, the information is not correct, according to journalist Bruno Andrade, from ESPN. However, the Bahian Tricolor monitors the goalkeeper’s situation, but will have competition from Grêmio, if they decide to enter the dispute to sign the veteran.
The goalkeeper is focused on the final stretch of the season and may listen to proposals at the end of it to analyze whether to stay or leave with caution.

Why is Weverton out against Grêmio?
The Palmeiras goalkeeper is undergoing treatment for a fractured bone in his right hand. The goalkeeper returned to training on the pitch with the rest of the group, but still with restrictions.
The number 21 was diagnosed with the injury on October 17th. Since then, Carlos Miguel has taken over the goal, and he should start again in the classic against Santos, Saturday, at 9pm (Brasília time), in Vila Belmiro.
The objective is for Weverton to once again be available to coach Abel Ferreira for the Libertadores finalon the 29th, against Flamengo. There is an expectation that the player can, at least, be among those listed in the decisive confrontation.
Release for training, however, still depends on the complete healing of the injury. The definition by the Palmeiras technical committee and medical department will take place throughout the week during the activities that the squad will carry out on Peruvian soil. Evolution will be analyzed daily by members of the Health and Performance Center.
