At least 13 people, including several children, died due to heavy flooding in the province of North Sumatra, in western Indonesia, where landslides also occurred, local authorities declared this Wednesday.

The most affected areas are Central Tapanuli and South Tapanuli, in North Sumatra, on the island of the same name, which concentrate the majority of deaths.

In addition, around 40 people were injured, according to medical sources who spoke to the Antara news agency.
