David violates process in opposition to Messiah, says Carvalho – 11/25/2025 – Panel

Coordinator of the legal group Prerogativas, aligned with the Lula government, lawyer Marco Aurélio Carvalho says that he is violating ethical standards and violating due legal process in his opposition to the minister’s appointment to the Federal Supreme Court.

This Tuesday (25), the president of the Senate considered the term too short by the PT base.

“We cannot forget that the hearing for Minister of the Supreme Court in the Senate is a legal and political process. It is during the hearing that the requirements of notorious legal knowledge and unblemished reputation of the nominee are assessed”, says Carvalho.

Alcolumbre’s opposition to Lula’s choice as Messiah has been bothering government allies. The president of the Senate worked on behalf of senator Rodrigo Pacheco (PSD-MG), his ally.

According to the coordinator of Prerogatives, senators cannot anticipate a position against the minister of the (General Attorney’s Office) before the hearing.

“Senators become judges in this process. They cannot anticipate votes, as this would violate the legal process”, he states. “What we want for the Messiah is not any ease, just a fair process,” he says.

For Carvalho, the appointment of a STF minister is the president’s prerogative. “The Senate also has the prerogative to accept it or not, but that is a decision that has to be taken after the hearing,” he said.
