Intense rains and melting snow dangerously increased the level of the Hrona: Water managers are on alert

Due to the increased level of the Hron and its embankment in some localities, water managers are also on standby to monitor the situation. TASR was informed about this by the spokesperson of the Slovak Water Management Company (SVP), Marián Bocák.

“Due to the effect of intense precipitation combined with melting snow, the levels and local embankment of the Hron and its tributaries also in the vicinity of Zvolen occurred. This was mainly caused by water runoff from the surrounding environment,” pointed out Bocák. As he added, water managers are on standby, monitoring the situation, providing sandbags and, if necessary, are ready to intervene in affected locations.
