The new Taste Atlas ranking once again aroused emotions among bread lovers. The list shows that the world of bread is more diverse than many of us imagine.
It took first place in the latest ranking of the hundred best breads in the world naan with butter and garlica classic of Indian and Pakistani cuisine. Soft, elastic bread with a slightly sweet taste goes perfectly with oriental dishes, soups and curry sauces. Its phenomenon lies in its simplicity: delicate dough, aromatic additives and baking in a red-hot tandoor oven, which gives the bread its characteristic taste and structure.

Although today we associate naan mainly with India, its roots go back to what is now Iran and Central Asia. The first mentions of this bread come from about two thousand years ago. In the past, it resembled flatter cakes that were baked on hot stones or in primitive clay ovens. It was only later that the tandoor oven became popular, a device that still gives naan its exceptional crispiness on the outside and softness on the inside.
