In the districts of Žarnovica, Zvolen and Košice-okolie (Bodva River), the Slovak Hydrometeorological Institute (SHMÚ) has issued a third-level flood warning from melting snow and rain. The second level applies in the districts of Levice, Veľký Krtíš, Revúca, Rožňava, Spišská Nová Ves, Gelnica and in part of the district of Košice-okolie (River Hornád).
The first level of warning is issued in the districts of Krupina, Banská Štiavnica, Žiar nad Hronom, Turčianske Teplice, Banská Bystrica, Brezno, Detva, Poltár. Also in the districts of Lučenec, Rimavská Sobota, Prešov and Bardejov.
“Heavy rainfall on Tuesday (November 25) caused rises in Slovak streams, while the most unfavorable flood situation was manifested in the Ipľ, Slana, upper Hron, Nitra, Bodva, Hornád and tributaries of the Bodrog (Olšava)” Danica Lešková, Head of the Department of Hydrological Forecasts and Warnings of the SHMÚ stated. The progress of flood conditions and their forecast is continuously updated on the SHMÚ website.
The TASR Ministry of the Environment informed that the flood activity in the Hrona and Slatina basins is currently stable. The water flows are culminating and the water managers have the situation under control for now.
