Thai woman found alive after being transported to be cremated

He surprised officials by moving while cremation was being discussed.

A 65-year-old woman who was believed to be dead was found alive by her brother and staff at the Wat Rat Prakhong Tham temple, located on the outskirts of Bangkok, where she was brought to be cremated.

Pairat Soodthoop, the temple manager, revealed that when he asked to open the coffin and check the body he found the woman “opening her eyes slightly and hitting the sides of the coffin”.

According to Pairat, the woman’s brother said that she had already been bedridden for two years before her condition worsened and, two days before arriving at the temple, she stopped breathing.

After finding out that his sister had died, he traveled 500 kilometers to a hospital in Bangkok, where the woman had expressed a desire to donate her organs. The donation was refused due to the lack of an official death certificate.

The woman was then transported to the temple, which performed free cremations, but the service was also refused due to the lack of a certificate.

The manager revealed to the Associated Press that he initially heard noises coming from the coffin while explaining to his brother how to obtain the necessary documents.

After the incident, a doctor confirmed that the woman was in a severe hypoglycemic state and ruled out the possibility that it was a cardiorespiratory arrest.
