VO2 max. In recent years, this abbreviation has made a career far beyond endurance sports. The value, which stands for maximum oxygen uptake, brings the physical fitness level to a simple two-digit number – usually somewhere between 30 and 50. The higher the number, the better the fitness. And better fitness is in turn associated with a lower risk of cardiovascular disease and a longer life expectancy.
