The Algarve Regional Coordination and Development Commission (CCDR Algarve) will promote, on December 3rd, at 10:00, a session dedicated to the “Valuation of Traditional Algarve Fruit Tree Cultivation Systems”, to be held in the auditorium of the Association of Beneficiaries of the Sotavento do Algarve Irrigation Plan (ABPRSA), in Tavira.
The initiative is part of the A+E – Agro + Eficiente project, financed by the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR), and brings together experts and technicians to discuss sustainable agricultural practices. The session will structure the work around themes related to traditional fruit trees in the region, including deficient irrigation techniques, soil coverage and health, economic aspects of production and digitalization technologies.
CCDR Algarve also informs that the program includes a technical visit to the Tavira Agricultural Experimentation Center (CEAT), in the afternoon.
According to the Commission, the A+E project aims to “promote more sustainable and efficient agricultural practices, supporting technological innovation and strengthening the resilience of production systems in the Algarve”.
This is a partnership between CCDR Algarve, the University of Algarve (UAlg), the Algarve Intermunicipal Community (AMAL), the Mediterranean Diet Competence Center (CCDM), the National Hortofrutícola Operative and Technological Center (COTHN), the Interprofessional Association for the Development of Production and Valorization of Carob (AIDA), the Carob Producers Group and Amêndoa (AGRUPA), the company FRUSOAL – Frutas Sotavento Algarve, Fulgur IT, Nutribean and Mil Plantas.
