Yes for Serbia’s membership in the EU, not for Ukraine. This is the Hungarian attitude, declared Péter Szijjártó

Hungarian Minister Péter Szijjártó supported Serbia’s membership in the EU. At the same time, he drew attention to the risks associated with the acceptance of Ukraine, including corruption at the highest level.

Serbia’s membership in the European Union would bring economic growth, but Ukraine’s unpreparedness and state-level corruption would destroy the bloc’s financial and agricultural systems. According to the MTI agency, Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs Péter Szijjártó announced this on Wednesday in Belgrade after a meeting with the head of Serbian diplomacy, Marko Djuric, reports TASR correspondent in Budapest.

“The EU would benefit from Serbia’s membership, but the process is being hindered by people in Brussels, while Ukraine, where corruption operates at the highest state level, would pose a threat to the community, but they would still like to accept it as soon as possible,” said Szijjártó.

The position of Hungary

“So Serbian EU membership is yes, Ukrainian EU membership is not,” this is the Hungarian position, Szijjártó emphasized.
