Eleven railway workers died on Thursday after being hit by a train at Luoyang Town Station in Kunming City, southwest China’s Yunnan Province. The local railway authorities informed about it, writes TASR according to the report of the AFP agency.

A train that was used to “test seismic equipment” bumped into workers in the early hours of the morning. In addition to the eleven workers who lost their lives, the accident also left two injured, the local railway authority said in a statement.
“The train was passing through a curve at Kchun-ming Luoyang Town Station in a normal manner when it collided with workers who entered the track area,” added the office, stating that the cause of the accident is under investigation.
By midday on Thursday, traffic had been restored and was operating in normal mode, while the injured were being treated by paramedics, said the office. Workplace accidents are relatively common in China due to unclear regulations and insufficient safety standards.
