Bolsonaro’s defense denies using a cell phone during Nikolas Ferreira’s visit

The defense of Jair Bolsonaro (PL) told the STF (Supreme Federal Court) this Thursday (27) that the former president did not use a cell phone during a meeting with federal deputy Nikolas Ferreira (PL-MG), having “strictly” complied with the precautionary measures imposed.

According to the defense, the deputy’s visit was carried out outside the former president’s house, within the monitoring range of the criminal police and completely in the open, even enabling the drone images released in the press to be taken.

Bolsonaro spent around three months under house arrest and under precautionary measures. One of the prohibitions was the use of cell phones, a restriction that should also be respected by visitors.

Drone images released by the press, however, show Nikolas Ferreira using a cell phone during a visit last Friday (21). Bolsonaro, who is in front of him, does not use the device.

On Wednesday, Minister Alexandre de Moraes asked the former president’s defense to explain the violation.

“The Petitioner accurately complied with Your Excellency’s determination, without using or even visual contact with the federal deputy’s cell phone. […] The Petitioner reaffirms that he has always strictly complied with all precautionary measures imposed by the Federal Supreme Court, reiterating that he did not use any cell phone, directly or indirectly, throughout the entire period in which he was under house arrest”, stated the defense.
