The Spanish Food Safety and Nutrition Agency issued an alert this Wednesday after the presence of metal and rubber fragments was detected in batches of Knorr brand dehydrated soup, following a notification from the Romanian authorities through the European food alert network.

According to the Spanish newspaper AS, the affected product is chicken soup with pasta, weighing 63 grams, stored at room temperature. The batches identified with problems are numbers 527922C93 and 528022C93, both with expiration dates until April 2027.

After confirming the presence of foreign bodies, the alert was immediately communicated to the competent authorities, who activated the mechanisms to remove the product from points of sale.

Distribution in several regions

According to information released in Spain, the affected batches of the Knorr brand arrived in Andalusia, the Balearics, Catalonia, the Canary Islands, Castilla-La Mancha, Galicia and Madrid. However, the possibility that the product was distributed in other regions is not excluded.

All regional authorities were notified to immediately remove the product from commercial establishments. The action was carried out through the coordinated system of rapid information exchange between food safety entities.

The objective of this preventive withdrawal is to avoid any risk to public health, as the ingestion of metal or rubber fragments can pose a physical danger to consumers.

What should consumers do

Anyone who has purchased the product from the identified batches should not consume it. It is recommended that it be returned to the place of purchase or disposed of safely.

So far, no confirmed cases of injuries associated with the consumption of this soup have been reported, according to authorities cited by .

The situation continues to be monitored by food safety entities, with the alert remaining active while verification and control procedures take place.

These food alerts are part of the European consumer protection system and aim to ensure that potentially dangerous products are quickly removed from the market.

And in Portugal?

So far, the Portuguese authorities have not yet confirmed the presence of these lots on the national market. Even so, the General Directorate of Food and Veterinary monitors the information through European alert mechanisms and may issue communication if the product enters Portugal.

Portuguese consumers who have purchased Knorr soups abroad, particularly in Spain, must check the batch number and expiration date before consumption.

If there is any doubt, it is recommended not to use the product and contact the point of sale or the food safety authorities.
