Three men have been arrested in connection with the fire at an apartment complex in Hong Kong that left dozens dead and injured.
The detainees are two directors and a consultant from a construction company, authorities said at a press conference. Police accuse these individuals of “gross negligence.”
Authorities found the construction company’s name on flammable expanded polystyrene signs that firefighters found blocking some windows at the apartment complex.
Authorities added that they suspect that — including protective nets, tarps and plastic covers — did not meet safety standards.
Wang Fuk Court, a public housing complex consisting of 8 towers and nearly 2,000 apartments, is home to nearly 4,000 people.
