The opinion recommends that the deputy publicly apologize and reflect on his stay as deputy secretary of the Board of the Assembly of the Republic, considering that there was a serious violation of parliamentary duties.
The Parliament’s Transparency Committee considers that Filipe Melo had unacceptable conduct in the plenary session in which . In the approved opinion, the Chega deputy is advised to apologize and reflect on whether he remains capable of continuing as deputy secretary of the Board of the Assembly of the Republic.
At the end of the morning, the deputy did not want to explain what he was going to do.
Since the episode, Filipe Melo has practically not returned to the place where he directs Parliament’s work and where he is secretary of the Board. On September 25, these gestures led to a complaint from PS deputy Isabel Moreira.
Now, the Transparency Commission considers that there was inappropriate conduct and leaves two recommendations to Chega’s deputy: that he publicly recant, with a formal apology to the plenary, and that he consider whether he is capable of continuing in office.
The opinion also says that the behavior is unacceptable, compromises the exemption and that Filipe Melo committed a serious violation of the deputies’ duties.
In the text, to which SIC had access, the Commission also clarifies that the deputy admits the error, but that he did not show any type of regret.
The opinion is approved. Chega was the only party to vote against.
