The City Hall announced, this Thursday (27), the schedule for the New Year’s Eve party on Avenida Paulista along with Christmas activities. The expectation is that the set of events will generate 18 thousand jobs and generate more than R$2 billion in the local economy.

The 2025 New Year’s Eve celebration on Avenida Paulista will begin at 2pm on December 31st and will feature 14 hours of non-stop music. To welcome the public, a monumental stage will be set up with LED panels and video towers spread across the road.

The musical program brings together ten major attractions, including names from religious, country, pagode and pop music. Among the confirmed artists are Padre Marcelo Rossi, Frei Gilson, Colo de Deus, Ana Castela, Maiara & Maraisa, Simone Mendes, João Gomes, Belo and Latino.

At the turn of the year, the public will watch a 15-minute fireworks display. 6.5 tons of silent devices will be used, respecting legislation against excessive noise. The event takes place on the same day as the 100th edition of the São Silvestre International Race, which will bring 55 thousand athletes to the avenue.

Due to the size of the events (São Silvestre and New Year’s Eve), there will be changes in traffic. The lockdowns will begin at midnight on the 31st and will last until January 2nd. In an unprecedented way, in addition to Avenida Paulista, Alamedas Santos and São Carlos do Pinhal will also be completely closed to guarantee pedestrian safety and facilitate flow.

The Military Police will work with almost 2,000 agents, aided by drones and facial recognition cameras. The Metropolitan Civil Guard (GCM) will complement the operation with more than 1,100 agents and monitoring through the Smart Sampa system. In health, there will be seven medical posts and mobile ICUs along the avenue.

Christmas illuminated

In addition to the New Year party, the city is already experiencing the “Illuminated Christmas 2025” atmosphere, which continues until Three Kings Day (January 6). The project aims to take Christmas decorations beyond the expanded center. All 32 sub-prefectures received 13.5 meter Christmas trees, and access roads in the North, South, East and West zones received special lighting.

In the Historic Center, the region was transformed into a large “Christmas Village”, with more than 50 decorated spots. Iconic buildings such as the Municipal Theater and the Matarazzo Building receive mapped projections and light shows. Largo São Bento offers a free ice skating rink, while Praça da Sé has inflatable toys for children.

Avenida Paulista displays its largest scenography to date: a light tunnel formed by 290 arches and cultural presentations in the MASP gap. In more remote regions, highlights include Parque do Carmo, in Itaquera, which houses a 16-meter tree and the Rá-Tim-Bum Castle, and Praça do Forró, in São Miguel Paulista, with a vast cultural program.
