Portugal wins under-17 World Cup title – 27/11/2025 – Sport

The Portugal team won their first under-17 World Cup title this Thursday (27), with a 1-0 victory over Austria, in a match played at the Khalifa International Stadium, in Doha, Qatar.

The only goal of the game was scored by striker Anísio Cabral, from Benfica, the competition’s second top scorer, with seven goals. Austrian Johannes Moser, who belongs to Red Bull Salzburg and is on loan to Liefering, Austria, finished as the isolated top scorer, with eight.

The Portuguese team was responsible for eliminating Brazil in the semi-finals, in a penalty shootout, after a 0-0 draw in regular time.

In the dispute for third place, the Brazilian team ended up being beaten by Italy, also in the penalty shootout.

Since the competition adopted its current format in 1991, the Brazilian team has won four times, tied with Nigeria as the two biggest winners.

Brazil’s first title came in 1997, in a formation that included Ronaldinho Gaúcho.
