Russian President Vladimir Putin says he expects US representatives in Moscow next week to discuss possible peace plans with Ukraine

The president of , , stated that he expects representatives in Moscow next week to discuss possible peace plans with , at a press conference this Thursday (27). According to him, the Russians are ready to talk to the Americans about détente in Eastern Europe and the US is taking the Kremlin’s position into consideration.

“There are no final versions of the Ukraine agreement, but we agree that the US president’s peace plan, , can be used as a basis for future agreements”, he pointed out. Putin said Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov would be at the talks and that Yuri Ushakov, the Kremlin’s top foreign policy adviser, was in contact with U.S. representatives.

Recently, an alleged leak of Ushakov’s conversation with White House special envoy Steve Witkoff, who is also expected to appear in the Russian capital for discussions, was reported. Putin minimized the disclosure of the dialogue, claimed that the published information could be false and highlighted that the action could be considered illegal. “If someone wants to carry out espionage, they need to do it skillfully”, he pondered.

The Russian president said he was “confused” and mentioned that he did not understand the US sanctions against Russian oil companies, as they are bad for the relationship between the two countries and he did not understand the “type of signal” they provide, in his opinion.

He further emphasized that when Ukraine’s troops leave their locations, then Russia will end the battles. “Russian and Ukrainian special services maintain contact and prisoner exchanges have been discussed,” he said.
