José Sócrates says he will vote for Henrique Gouveia e Melo in the to prevent the far right from coming to power. In reaction, the presidential candidate says he has no relationship with the former prime minister.
In an interview with CNN, José Sócrates says that it is necessary “ensure that the extreme right does not come to power”. In this sense, he declares support for Henrique Gouveia e Melo.
“I don’t like voting for the military, but I’m going to vote for him because I think he’s the one who offers the best guarantees that he will never accept the extreme right in power,” he says.

Asked about José Sócrates’ support during the debate against Jorge Pinto, Henrique Gouveia e Melo says, irritated by the moderator’s issue, that has no relation to the former prime minister.
“You will vote for whoever you wish [nas presidenciais]I have nothing to do with it”, he says, adding that it is a “provocative question”.
