The police are investigating the accident that happened on Joliota Curie Street in Poprad shortly before 7:00 a.m. on Wednesday (November 26). The regional police spokeswoman from Prešov, Jana Ligdayová, informed that an 80-year-old pedestrian was hit by a car.

Ligday said that the 29-year-old driver of a passenger car did not follow the traffic situation enough and hit a pedestrian who was crossing the pedestrian crossing with his vehicle. “Both participants were breathalyzed at the scene of the accident, negative results ruled out the presence of alcohol,” she added that the 80-year-old pedestrian suffered an injury as a result of the collision, which will require treatment for several weeks.
An authorized member of the District Traffic Inspectorate in Poprad is conducting criminal prosecution in the case of the crime of bodily harm. The exact causes of the traffic accident, the circumstances as well as the degree of culpability are the subject of an abbreviated investigation.
