Among the names confirmed on the list of players who came on board are Léo Ortiz and Pedro, who are still treating injuries, but will remain with the squad. Both do intensive work at Ninho do Urubu.

Will Léo Ortiz play in the Libertadores final?

Léo Ortiz is treating a ligament strain in his right ankle, suffered on October 19, in the victory over Palmeiras in the Brazilian Championship. Despite the problem, he tried to be on the field in the semi-final against Racing, undergoing infiltration to endure the pain.

The coaching staff still hoped to use him for a few minutes in the duel against Atlético-MG, last Tuesday, but the defender was not even listed for the match. The club understood that the risk was high and decided to preserve it.

Even so, Ortiz continues to show progress in treatment. The trip to Lima is part of the medical planning, which believes that the proximity to the group and the structure in Peru can help him.

What is Pedro’s situation? Will he play in the Libertadores final?

Pedro’s situation is considered more serious. The attacker had recovered from a broken forearm, also suffered against Palmeiras, but ended up facing a new physical problem. A week ago, during training at Ninho do Urubu, he injured his left thigh, which compromised his participation in the final.

As it is a medium to high severity injury, the time until the decisive game is insufficient for full recovery, and Flamengo is working with the real possibility that the number 9 will not play. Even so, the striker got on board with the rest of the squad.

Other absences travel with the squad

In addition to Ortiz and Pedro, Gonzalo Plata also traveled with the delegation, even though he was suspended. The Ecuadorian received a red card in the second leg of the semi-final against Racing and will have to serve an automatic penalty in the decision in Lima.

Even if unable to perform, the player will remain with the group to support and participate in the pre-game routine. In the decisive and more balanced confrontation, Flamengo understands that the collective environment can make a difference.

Schedule for the next few days in Peru

The red-black delegation embarked on Wednesday towards Lima. The journey from Ninho do Urubu to the airport was marked by the traditional “aeroFla”, a moment in which fans gather to support the players with flags, chants and flares.

Arrival in the Peruvian capital took place at 8:25 pm local time (10:25 pm Brasília time). After disembarking, the athletes went to the hotel, where they had dinner and began the final concentration period before the decision.

On Thursday and Friday, the squad trains at the Peruvian Federation training center. These will be the last sessions before the clash against Palmeiras, which will determine the champion of America in 2025.
