Zambelli’s extradition hearing is postponed after strike – 11/27/2025 – Power

The hearing in Italy of the first decision on the extradition of the deputy (-SP) was postponed until next Thursday (4), at the Court of Appeal in Rome. It was, but the date changed due to a strike by criminal lawyers in Rome.

Zambelli has been imprisoned since the end of July in the Rebibbia prison complex in Rome.

At next week’s hearing, the court will consider the merits of extradition for the first time. The representative of the Public Ministry has already expressed his support for the request of the Brazilian Justice.

Zambelli fled the country in June to escape a ten-year prison sentence for the invasion of the (National Council of Justice) system and the issuing of a false arrest warrant against the minister of the (Supreme Federal Court).

When she was already in Italy, she was sentenced to another five years for illegal possession of a firearm and illegal restraint. The two cases make up a single extradition process.

After the decision of the Court of Appeal, both parties can appeal to the Court of Cassation, the last instance of the Italian Judiciary. The case then goes to the Italian government, which has the final say on extradition, through the Ministry of Justice. The government will have 45 days to respond.
