The President of the United States, Donald Trump, ordered this Thursday (27), a review of the green cards of foreigners from 19 countries who currently live in the country. The green card is the document that allows a citizen of another country to reside permanently in the USA.
Trump’s determination comes one day after the shooting attack near the White House in Washington, which left two US National Guard soldiers injured. . According to US authorities, the attack was carried out by a man from Afghanistan.
The list is the same as when countries were subject to travel restrictions by the Trump administration, in June 2025. At that time, citizens from 12 countries were completely banned from traveling to the USA and those from the other seven were limited.

Also this Thursday, the US government had already announced that it would review all asylum requests granted by Trump’s predecessor, Joe Biden, between 2021 and 2025.
The current administration claims that the man who committed the shooting near the White House entered American territory through a program known as Operation Allies Welcome, in August 2021. He is detained.
The program allowed Afghan citizens to enter the United States with two-year temporary stay concessions, but without any type of permanent immigration status. The program was launched by the Biden administration as a way to help Afghans who have been crucial in assisting American troops in the country and in Washington’s effort to reshape Afghan civil society. The idea was to protect those who could suffer retaliation from the Taliban if they remained in Afghanistan.
