The launch of “The Hunt” has been postponed indefinitely on Apple TV, the series’ producer said in a statement this week. The postponement comes after a plagiarism complaint from a French media expert, according to Variety.
“The broadcast of our series ‘The Hunt’ has been temporarily postponed. We are currently conducting a full review to resolve any issues relating to our production. We take intellectual property issues very seriously,” Gaumont said.
According to the publication, creator and director Cédric Anger was accused of copying the series’ story from the 1973 novel “Shoot” by Douglas Fairbairn, which was previously adapted into the 1976 film of the same name.
“The Hunt” no longer appears on the Apple TV releases page. The French series is scheduled to premiere next week, December 3rd.
According to the previously released synopsis, the production follows a group of hunters who keep a secret about an event in the forest — until they begin to feel that they are being watched and persecuted.
Names like (“The Piano Teacher”), Manuel Guillot (“At Eternity’s Gate”), Cédric Appietto (“A Violent Life”), Paul Beaurepaire (“It’s Time to Love”) and more are in the cast.
