The President of the United States, Donald Trump, announced this Thursday a new package of measures to strongly restrict immigration, including the suspension of migration from “all Third World Countries” and the end of federal benefits for non-citizens residing in the country.
In two publications on the social network Truth Social, Trump stated that he will “permanently pause migration from all Third World Countriesto allow the North American system to fully recover”, without clarifying, however, which States fall under this definition, typically used in a vague way to describe countries with higher levels of poverty and economic instability.

Among the measures announced is also the end of all federal benefits and subsidies for non-citizens, the “denaturalization of migrants who undermine internal tranquility” and the deportation of any foreigner classified as “public charge, security risk or incompatible with Western Civilization”.
The statements appear after the Wednesday shooting near the White Housein which two members of the National Guard were hit. One of the soldiers died on Thursday from her injuries, Trump himself announced, cited by .
US authorities indicated that the attack was carried out by an Afghan national.
Hours after the incident, the director of the US citizenship service Joseph Edlow announced on the X network that the agency will review all visa holders from “countries of concern” and also suspended, immediately and indefinitely, all immigration requests related to Afghan citizens.
