Conviction

The minister of the Federal Supreme Court (), ordered, last Tuesday (25), the immediate beginning of serving the sentence of former president Jair Bolsonaro. The order comes after the First Panel of the Court rejected the defense’s last appeal and declared the final judgment of the criminal action that condemned the former government’s top leadership for an attempted coup d’état. The former agent begins serving his sentence of more than 27 years of imprisonment at the Federal Police Regional Superintendency in the Federal District.

The court decision ends the appeals phase and defines complex custody logistics, separating those convicted in different civil and military installations across the country, according to their prerogatives and ranks. Bolsonaro will remain detained in a “General Staff Room” at the PF headquarters in Brasília, a legal prerogative that ensures accommodation different from common cells. Moraes’ order includes the requirement for a medical team to be available full-time to monitor the former president’s health.
