The Chilean Eduardo Vergara, from the (Inter-American Development Bank), the Colombian, former Secretary of Security of Bogotá, and the Brazilian, from the Safe City Institute, will participate on Tuesday (2) in the Public Security Forum in Transversal Perspectives, in Niterói (RJ), in which they will discuss new challenges and solutions for combating urban violence.
The invitation was made by the mayor of Niterói, (PDT), who is hosting the 30th Summit of the Mercocidades Network, an organization of local governments in South America. The Public Security Forum will be the opening event of the Summit.
The theme of the summit, which will take place from December 3 to 5, will be “Pathways to Resilient, Peaceful and Sustainable Cities”. The meeting will bring together around 400 local authorities from cities in 12 Latin American countries, as well as representatives from international institutions, such as UN System agencies and development banks.
