Governor Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans) stated that the PT would have to change “a lot” to correct the country’s course and that, without profound reforms, Brazil runs the risk of repeating past mistakes. He participated in XP Asset Management’s Annual Meeting, held this Thursday (27) in São Paulo
“Either the PT would have to redo a series of profound reforms… or Brazil will go bankrupt,” he said, recalling the fiscal deterioration of the Dilma government.
According to him, whoever takes over in 2027 will have to implement a clear agenda of changes, focusing on structural reforms, such as administrative reforms, spending reviews and the modernization of the State. “Brazil will need a budget reform, and decoupling is fundamental,” he stated.

Tarcísio praised Paulo Guedes and returned to the “Ds” theory as the basis of this path. “OD of deregulation, the D of digitalization, the D of decoupling, the D of deindexation, the D of disinvestment,” he said.
When talking about voters, Tarcísio stated that the central question for 2026 will be personal and direct: “The big question is: has my life changed?”. According to him, the answer today is still negative for a large part of the population. “People end up saying: wow, my life hasn’t changed”, he concluded.
