The woman’s birth shocked even the experts: The baby was born with a huge… THIS has never been seen before!

Doctors in Taiwan couldn’t believe their eyes when a mother gave birth to a baby with a huge tumor that made up a sixth of his body weight. The formation that formed on the baby’s coccyx weighed more than half a kilo. , medical professionals said that they had not encountered a similar case before.

  • The child was born with a huge tumor on the coccyx.
  • The tumor, called sacrocozygeal teratoma, weighed more than half a kilogram.
  • Doctors managed to remove it during surgery.
  • Experts draw attention to the importance of prenatal examinations for early detection of health problems.

The unnamed mother arrived at Cheng Ching Hospital in the Taiwanese city of Taichung with strong contractions. Despite the fact that she was only in the 33rd week, the doctors decided on an early delivery. However, during the ultrasound, they discovered a huge sacrocozygeal teratoma weighing 530 grams, which was located near the child’s anus. It is the most common type of tumor in newborns, which occurs mainly in girls.

Doctors noticed the tumor in the fifth month of pregnancy, when it was about 5 centimeters in size. But they were surprised that in ten weeks it had increased almost fourfold. “We have never seen such rapid tumor growth before,” noted Dr. Lin Yu-Li.

Nine days after the birth, the doctors managed to remove the huge tumor. During the operation, the team of surgeons made a 20-centimeter V-shaped incision, which they sewed up after successfully removing the teratoma. Tests have shown that the tumor is benign and there is very little chance of recurrence.

Experts in the medical report urged mothers to go for prenatal examinations regularly. Thanks to them, they can detect the health status of the fetus in time, and thus avoid possible complications during childbirth.
