União Brasil wants security as a right-wing agenda in 2026 – 11/27/2025 – Power

Leaders of the meeting on Thursday night (27), in , indicated that they will place public security at the center of the debate in 2026, betting on the erosion of the federal government in the area.

“If you want to see how the PT deals with the issue of public security, look at Bahia. The most violent cities in the country are in Bahia, a state governed by the PT for 20 years”, said the former mayor of Salvador ACM Neto, during an event promoted by Fundação Índigo, linked to União Brasil and chaired by the politician.

“PT likes to say in its propaganda that it takes care of the poorest. But is it possible to take care of the poorest and have these numbers? In Bahia, it is the poor who die most due to criminal organizations”, continued ACM Neto.

Named “SOS Public Security”, the event brought together leaders from União Brasil. Also participating was the Secretary of Public Security of São Paulo, Guilherme Derrite (PP), who was the rapporteur, in the Chamber of Deputies, of the Anti-Faction bill sent by the federal government.

The progress of the project was tumultuous. President Lula’s (PT) base in the Chamber and criticized it in the text, which is now .

This Thursday, Derrite called the original version of the project “crap” and said that “the federal government has a romantic vision of public security.

“It was the President of the Republic himself who said very recently that the drug trafficker is a victim,” said Derrite.

A similar event by Fundação Índigo had already taken place in May, in Bahia. This Thursday, in Curitiba, the host of the meeting was senator Sergio Moro, who is a pre-candidate for state government in 2026.

“Enough of saying that arresting doesn’t solve the problem. It does. And six police officers had to die in Rio de Janeiro for us to be able to advance criminal legislation”, said Moro, when defending the toughening of penalties, the main point of the Anti-Faction bill approved in the Chamber.

According to Moro, the PT federal government, in the last two years, was “just making the lives of the state police hell” so that they could adopt cameras on their uniforms. “We can even discuss this topic, but it cannot be the flagship,” said the senator.

Also present at the event in Curitiba, the national president of União Brasil, Antonio Rueda, stated that Operation Containment in Rio de Janeiro, at the end of October, “raised awareness throughout the country”. He believes that there is support from society to “encourage strong measures against organized crime”.

According to Rueda, “it’s no surprise that people linked to the security forces have taken over politics” and “the PT doesn’t want that.” For him, the public security agenda is a right-wing and conservative agenda.

Following the speeches by União Brasil politicians, the former captain of Bope (Police Operations Battalion) from Rio de Janeiro Rodrigo Pimentel took to the stage to give a talk. Pimentel is the creator of the film “Tropa de Elite” and was called to talk about the territorial expansion of criminal factions.

The president of the National Congress, Davi Alcolumbre (União-AP), was announced by the organization of the event in Curitiba, but, due to his agenda in Brasília, he was unable to participate in the meeting.

The governor of Goiás, Ronaldo Caiado (União), had to cancel his participation because he was recovering from surgery and recorded a video shown at the event.
