One of its two members who died yesterday Wednesday, when the attack was committed two streets from the White House, succumbed to her injuries, the US president announced yesterday Thursday.
“Sarah Beckstrom, from West Virginia, one of the National Guardsmen we’re talking about, who was highly respected, was young and great, started her service in June 2023 and was outstanding in every way since she left us. He is no longer with us,” the Republican billionaire said in a televised speech from Florida.
The other soldier who was hit by gunfire “is fighting to stay alive,” he added. “He is in a very serious condition. He is fighting to stay alive and we hope that we will receive the best news” about his progress, he added.
When asked by reporters if he would attend the 20-year-old’s funeral, the American president replied that he had not thought about it, without ruling it out.
