Brennsteiner celebrates his debut victory in Copper Mountain, Odermatt canceled


Copper Mountain – Stefan Brennsteiner has finally made it to the top: The 34-year-old from Salzburg stayed cool in the final of the giant slalom at Copper Mountain on Friday and won his first World Cup race. In 2:30.98 minutes he confidently prevailed ahead of the Norwegian Henrik Kristoffersen (+0.95) and the Croatian Filip Zubcic (1.00). Marco Schwarz, second from Sölden, improved from ninth place at halftime to fourth and only missed the podium by two hundredths of a second. In the Giant Slalom World Cup, Brennsteiner now leads with 150 points ahead of Schwarz (130) and Kristoffersen (116). In the Nations Cup, Austria is clearly ahead of Switzerland (733) with 1,108 points.
