On Saturday, Russia launched large-scale drone and missile attacks on several parts of the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv. Authorities report at least one dead and 11 injured, with several areas burning, informs TASR according to reports from Reuters and DPA.
Russia also attacked Kyiv on Tuesday, when seven people lost their lives. Tymur Tkachenko, head of Kyiv’s military administration, said Saturday’s strikes hit six different areas. Residential buildings and other buildings in the city with approximately three million inhabitants are damaged. Rescuers pulled a lifeless body from the wreckage of one of the burning apartments, authorities said.
Mayor Vitalij Klitschko he added that one of the attacks caused a large-scale fire on the lower floors of a high-rise building in the west of the city. Another fire broke out in the center of the metropolis, but the firemen quickly managed to get it under control.
Shortly after 5:00 a.m. local time (4:00 a.m. CET), the authorities made the announcement new air alert for the risk of another wave of drone attacks. Images of a burning apartment building and rescuers working in streets filled with debris appeared on social networks, Reuters reports.
