Lagos transforms into “Christmas Bay” with more than a month of activities

The Municipality of Lagos announced a diverse program to mark the Christmas season, which runs between November 29th and January 10th, transforming the city into a “true Natal Bay”. According to the municipality, “the municipality already breathes Christmas in every street”, with proposals that cover families, local businesses and the school community.

Praça do Infante will once again be the center of festivities between November 29th and December 24th, this year with a new feature inspired by the theme “Lagos, Baía do Natal”. The space will host Santa Claus’s House, a grocery store, sled track, ice rink, mini wheel, train, face painting, jugglers, photography spots and craft workshops. Santa Claus’s arrival is scheduled for December 1st, at 3:00 pm.

One of the new features of this edition will be the stage installed at Espelho de Água, which will host performances by several local groups, including Grupo Zahirah, Colégio de S. Gonçalo, Grupo Coral Ucraniano Kryla and Academia de Ballet Dança & Arte Sofia Rodrigues.

Armazém Regimental will also host programming dedicated to children, with the plays “O Natal na Aldeia dos Elfos” and “O Regresso dos Piratas para o Natal”, storytelling sessions with Márcia Gamito and the show “Pandora”, by Duo Niu and Teatro Experimental de Lagos.

The municipality also highlights entertainment in the municipal markets, with performances by Roberto Bernardino, Humberto Silva, Grupo ÀModaAntiga, Sociedade Filarmónica Lacobrigense 1.º de Maio and entertainment circulating at Mercado da Avenida. The traditional Christmas Exhibition of the Barlavento Artisans Association returns on the 7th and 8th of December, at Mercado de Levante.

Another novelty takes place in Barão de São João, in the Barão ConVIDA space, with Christmas workshops dedicated to the creation of Advent wreaths, square wool stars and biodegradable beeswax candles.

The program also extends to the Centro Cultural de Lagos, where several local associations present shows alluding to the court, and includes initiatives at Clube Artístico Lacobrigense, Impacto Ímpar/Sons ao Crepúsculo, Grupo Coral de Lagos, Ginástica Clube de Lagos and Clube Desportivo de Odiáxere. The municipality also reinforces the existence of activities for families at the Municipal Library, as well as Natalândia at the Lagos Zoo, from December 5th to 24th.

Animated Nativity Scene by José Cortes can be seen until January 10th

Between November 29th and January 10th, the traditional exhibition of the Animated Nativity Scene by José Cortes will be on display at the Cultural Center, a reference that, according to the municipality, “continues to enchant generations”.

In partnership with ACRAL, the “Christmas in Local Commerce” initiative returns, which awards coupons for purchases equal to or greater than 10 euros in participating establishments, allowing customers to qualify for 100-euro vouchers to use at .

The municipality invites the population to participate in the celebrations, saying that this is “a special time, made of light, tradition and happy smiles”.
