Federal deputy Carlos Zarattini (PT-SP) criticized this Friday (28) the position of the governor of São Paulo, Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans), on the amnesty for those convicted of January 8th.
In a video published on social media, the PT member stated that Tarcísio defended the issue only to get closer to the Bolsonarist electorate after the arrest of former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL).
Zarattini’s statement came after Tarcísio asked, on Tuesday (25), that Congress advance the amnesty during an event with mayors at Palácio dos Bandeirantes. According to the deputy, the gesture occurred because the governor intends to run for President in 2026. “He knows that with the center alone he won’t go anywhere,” he stated.

Zarattini also criticized the state management and said that Tarcísio should present results in São Paulo before entering the national debate. The governor continues to defend his re-election in São Paulo and states that the center-right camp should present a joint plan for 2026.
The former president’s arrest increased pressure within the right for a competitive name to face President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) in the 2026 elections.
