Russia sees Ukrainian-Polish cooperation as a strategic threat, says a Ukrainian diplomat

The Ukrainian minister emphasized that the relationship with Poland is essential for stability in the region. However, Russia takes the initiative to spread disinformation against this cooperation.

Russia considers strong relations between Ukraine and Poland a threat and will try to weaken them, Ukrainian Deputy Foreign Minister Oleksandr Mishchenko said. TASR informs about this according to the Saturday report of the PAP agency.

Mishchenko, during an official visit to Warsaw, which lasted from November 27 to 28, said that Kyiv appreciates the initiatives of the US and its other allies aimed at achieving a just and lasting peace in the war in Ukraine. At the same time, he emphasized that any peace proposal that would indicate that Ukraine would give up its territory occupied by Russia, limit its military power and also the freedom to choose military alliances is absolutely unacceptable.

The deputy head of diplomacy also spoke about Polish-Ukrainian cooperation in exhuming the remains of victims of past mutual conflicts. Mishchenko called it a constructive process building mutual trust between the two countries and a manifestation of Ukraine’s readiness to solve sensitive historical issues. In his opinion, Russia is aware of the strong ties between Poland and Ukraine and perceives it as a strategic threat. Mishchenko noted that Moscow is purposefully spreading negative narratives about both countries on the Internet as part of the hybrid war. Any Russian hybrid attack, whether it is disinformation or violation of NATO airspace by drones, requires an adequate response, the minister concluded.
