The governor of São Paulo, Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans), decided that the current assistant secretary Osvaldo Nico Gonçalves will take on the Public Security Secretariat not place of Guilherme Derrite (PP-SP).
The official announcement and appointment should be published next Monday (1st), according to the investigation by the CNN Brazil.
Derrite left his position at the beginning of the month to dedicate himself.
Starting next month, Derrite will resume his mandate as federal deputy permanently and must focus on articulating his pre-candidacy for the Senate.
Behind the scenes, Nico has always been Derrite’s preferred name. He worked so that his number 2 had a leading role in the department and was responsible for placing him in the position at the beginning of his administration.
Now, he is appointed as the main coordinator of the internal transition that consolidated the name of the delegate to take command of São Paulo’s security.
Tarcísio even considered appointing the Secretary of Penitentiary Administration, Marcello Streifinger, but the understanding of the need to continue the work done by Derrite weighed on the decision.
Nico Gonçalves is one of the most experienced staff in the Civil Police. He joined the institution in 1979 and was previously the corporation’s general delegate.
He also headed the Deic (State Department of Criminal Investigations)o Garra (Armed Robbery and Assault Repression Group)o Special Rescue Group and was one of the founders of GOE (Special Operations Group)historical unit of the corporation.
