A woman died this Friday afternoon (28) after being run over and dragged by a pickup truck in the center of Igarapé, in the Metropolitan Region of Belo Horizonte. She had dropped her son off at school moments before.
Security cameras that captured the collision show the woman getting on the motorcycle and preparing to leave when it is which reverses and passes over her, dragging her for a few meters. See below:
The woman was rescued by residents but ended up succumbing to her injuries. According to the Military Police, the truck was driven by another 42-year-old woman, who was accompanied by her two children, her nephew and her mother.
She told the military that she would drop the children off at school, that she saw the motorcycle and that she passed it to park just ahead, but when she went to maneuver the vehicle she noticed the brakes were a bit “soft” and lost control of the car, running over the motorcyclist.
According to the military, the driver of the truck also needed medical attention because . Forensics were on site to collect the first elements that will support the investigations. Both vehicles had expired licenses and were collected.
The driver of the truck may be liable for a traffic crime, as provided for in the CTB (Brazilian Traffic Code).
In a statement, the PCMG (Civil Police of Minas Gerais) informed that the official expert went to the location of the events, where they carried out the usual work that will support the investigation. Both vehicles involved in the accident were taken to the authorized yard.
PCMG opened a police investigation to determine the circumstances and cause of the accident and has already collected statements from the driver of the truck, who was interviewed, released and continues to be investigated.
