The president of , (-AP), is indignant and felt offended by the accusation that he had asked for positions from the Lula (PT) government in exchange for approval for the (Supreme Federal Court), according to people close to him.
This is one of the explanations given by the senator’s allies for this Sunday (30) against “sectors of the Executive”. Those who spoke to Alcolumbre say that the recipient of the note (almost an open letter) has the correct address: Palácio do Planalto.
The senator is personally uncomfortable with news about an alleged presidency of Banco do Brasil, Caixa, CVM (Securities Commission), Cade (Administrative Council for Economic Defense) and ANA (National Water Agency).
Alcolumbre told allies that he even considers part of the second-tier positions and that he never treated these appointments as a type of compensation for the fact that Lula chose Messias (PSD-MG), his friend-brother.
This Sunday’s note was also motivated by another discomfort with the government. Alcolumbre was not notified before choosing Messias, but the situation was made even worse by the fact that the Palácio do Planalto made the nomination to the Senate.
People from Amapá see the delay as an affront to the Senate, according to an interlocutor, since the government had time to announce the choice, post a photo of Messias with Lula on the president’s social networks and publish it in the DOU (Official Gazette of the Union).
In the note, Alcolumbre said that “it causes perplexity to the Senate that the written message has not yet been sent, which appears to seek to unduly interfere with the schedule established by the House, the exclusive prerogative of the Federal Senate.”
A person close to the senator says that she has already made it clear that, with or without a message, Messiah will be questioned and his name will be put to a vote on December 10th.
As shown by , Alcolumbre went so far as to say that, if the government does not send the documents soon, it will print the DOU page with Messias’ indication and send it to the senators of the Constitution and Justice Commission, where the hearing takes place.
People close to the senator claim that the institutional relationship between the Senate and Palácio do Planalto has imploded.
An interlocutor from Alcolumbre says that the president has no problems with either Lula or the leader of the Senate, Jaques Wagner (PT-BA), for example, but thinks that the situation requires a drastic change of course.
