On Friday, November 28, Trnava was filled with festive warmth. The ceremonial opening of the Advent markets once again transformed the city center into a place where time stopped, at least for a while, and the joy of shared moments came to the fore. The atmosphere was literally magical. The allegorical procession with magical beings and lanterns started from SNP Square and brought light all the way to Trojičné Square, where together, the entire square counted down the lighting of the Christmas tree.
The alleys were filled with puffs of steam and the captivating smell of punch and mulled wine, which are inherent to this period. Visitors are also attracted by mead and other traditional delicacies. Like every year, Slovaks are also interested in what the prices are at food and drink stalls. Reader Ondrej contacted the editorial office and shared with us photos from the Advent markets.
Visitors pay approximately 1.5 euros for mulled wine, the same price for warm mead. Two dozen alcoholic punches will cost you from 3 euros to 3.4 euros. The non-alcoholic version costs 2.5 euros. Gypsy roast in a bun cannot be missed at the Christmas markets. One of the stands offers it for 7 euros.
If someone gets a taste for pulled pork with fries and dressing, they have to prepare 8.5 euros. Ten dekagrams of baked sausage costs 3.5 euros. The Christmas pulse of the city will beat until December 22, so you have plenty of time to enjoy the Advent atmosphere and find peace in the heart of Trnava.
Rich program for children and adults
The program at Trojično námestí will always take place from Wednesday to Sunday. “Popular bands, choral performances and small artists from primary art schools take turns on the stage. He will bring Music from Mars, Funny Fellows, Ukitas, Tamara Kramar to the Bukas massif to the stage,” zoomed in from the municipal cultural center Zaži in Trnava.
Sundays will include four Advent concerts in the Franciscan Church of St. Jakub. They will be opened on November 30 by the Bratislava Boys’ Choir with a soprano Adriana Šimkováwill be introduced on December 7 Katarína Koščová accompanied by a band, a string quartet and a choir. This will be followed by the Winter Symphony with Trnava artists and choirs Cantica Kids at Cantica Nova and closes on the last Sunday of Advent Heavenly music from Terchová.
On Friday, December 5, the little ones will have a meeting with Mikuláš and a performance by Spievankov at Trojično námestí. The children’s program culminates on December 31 with New Year’s Eve for children. The synagogue comes alive with fairy tales on Sunday afternoons. There will be medieval Advent markets on Mikulášský náměstí from December 19 to 21. The festive period will be closed by the New Year’s concert of the Trnava Chamber Orchestra, which is scheduled for January 1, 2026 in the Church of St. Jakub.
The regional tourism organization Trnava Tourism announced that the weekend from December 19 to 21 will also include the Time of Joy, Happiness program at the Trnava Educational Center. K the festive events will also be joined this year by the Trnava Christmas market in the synagogue area, where visitors will find local products on December 6. Visitors will be able to climb the city tower every Tuesday and Wednesday by lantern light and with a guide. The view from it is available during Advent weekends with extended opening hours until 8:00 p.m.
