Internacional announces the return of Abel Braga to the club to lead the team in the last two rounds of the Brazilian Championship

After dismissing Ramón Díaz, he opted for an old acquaintance and announced the return of Abel Braga to the club to lead the team in the last two rounds of the tournament. He is the coach who has managed Inter the most (340 official games) and will be making his eighth spell at the club (see ad below).

Abel was Inter’s coach when they won the Club World Cup in 2006, and in his last spell he led the team to runner-up in the Brazilian Championship in 2020. Now, however, his mission is at the bottom of the table. After the 5-1 defeat suffered by Vasco on Friday (28) and Vitória’s triumph over Mirassol on Saturday (29), Inter entered the relegation zone of the Brasileirão.

The new coach will now have two games to avoid relegation: São Paulo, away from home, and Red Bull Bragantino, at Beira-Rio, in the last round. Abel starts working this Sunday (30), alongside the club’s permanent committee, as in addition to Ramón Diáz, all members of its technical committee have also left the club: Emiliano Díaz, Osmar Ferreyra, Bruno Urribarri, Diego Pereira and Juan Romanazzi.

Ramón Díaz arrived in Porto Alegre in September and had a contract until 2026. He led the team in 13 matches, recording three wins, five draws and five defeats.
