Traditional vegetable salad it’s a must-have for every holiday, including the upcoming Christmas. The salad is prepared in less than an hour, which is a big plus in the holiday frenzy of preparation. Below you will find a basic recipe for the salad, which you can freely modify by adding or subtracting ingredients.
To prepare this recipe, you will need:
- 500 g potatoes,
- 4 carrots,
- 8 eggs,
- 350 g canned peas,
- 100 g pickled cucumbers,
- 200g majonezu,
- 1 small onion,
- salt and pepper to taste.
Additionally:
- parsley for decoration.
Cook the potatoes and carrots in their jackets in a pot until they are soft, for about 20-30 minutes, depending on their size. They should be firm, not overcooked.
Hard boil the eggs, then cool them and peel them.
Cut all ingredients, including cucumbers, into small cubes of equal size.
Peel and chop the onion finely, then pour boiling water over it and leave to drain completely and cool down.
Drain the green peas from the brine.
Transfer all ingredients to a salad bowl and add mayonnaise. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Mix everything into a uniform salad.
Place the traditional vegetable salad in the refrigerator for at least an hour to allow the flavors to combine, although it tastes best the day after preparation. Garnish with chopped parsley.
Store leftovers in the fridge and use within 5-7 days.
