Deputy defends unity against what he called the extreme right and says that the campaign for the Senate will be central to 2026; choice of PSOL, Manuela d’Ávila participated in the PT ceremony
This Saturday, the pre-candidacy of the federal deputy for Rio Grande do Sul became official. The event, held in Porto Alegre, marked the beginning of the PT movement for 2026, focusing on the dispute for one of the Rio Grande do Sul seats. In a speech, Pimenta stated that the main challenge of the next period will be to unite the left to prevent the State from “falling into the hands of fascism and the extreme right”. He also highlighted that the Senate will be a central space in the national political dispute.
The ceremony was attended by , who left PCdoB in November and had his pre-candidacy for the Senate announced this Saturday by . The formalization is scheduled for December 9th, also in Porto Alegre. Pimenta sent a “special hug” to the former congresswoman and stated that he was convinced that they would both run a campaign capable of “making Rio Grande do Sul fall in love”.
The deputy also reviewed the history of the last Senate elections and said that the left intends to “get revenge” by electing state representatives after defeats in previous cycles. “We are going to take revenge by electing two senators — a senator and a senator — here in Rio Grande,” he stated.
PSOL celebrated the arrival of Manuela d’Ávila to the party and said, in a post on social media, that her membership strengthens the project of “structural changes for Brazil” and the construction of a “more just and fraternal” world. In her networks, Manuela stated that the Brazilian left is diverse and that this diversity must be combined with “the necessary unity in the face of fascism”.
