The negotiations to reach a peace agreement in the framework of the war in Ukraine are advancing, although slowly. However, while progress is being made, the war on the front continues and the conflict is on track to meet the objectives four years long.
One of the fundamental elements in this war has been unmanned aerial vehicles, drones, which have allowed Zelensky’s country to perform feats such as that carried out by the Nemesis Regiment of Ukraine together with special operations units.
These Ukrainian drone operators have managed to deal a serious blow to Russia’s layered air defense system, after damaging three surface-to-air missile systems (a Buk-M1, a Buk-M2 and a Tor-M2 system) an approximate value of 60 million dollars (about 51 million euros)as stated in a statement from the Ukrainian Unmanned Systems Forces on November 28.
This attack by Ukraine not only entailed enormous economic lossesbut also resulted in a degradation of Russia’s air defense system, which will now have fewer medium and short-range interceptors, and therefore, will be more exposed to possible future attacks.
This offensive is not new, in fact, drone attacks have become common in this conflict. Another example is the one offered Defence Express, which states that several Ukrainian drone operators from the 429 Achilles Regiment managed to destroy a Russian BTR-82A armored personal transport vehicle that was trying to advance and infiltrate the Pokrvosk front.
Since the conflict in Ukraine began until August 2025, according to the have died between 210,050 and 296,573 Russian soldiers. 53% of all of them were volunteers, conscripts and convicts who left “the penal colonies to go to war.”
