Robinson Shiba, businessman who founded the China In Box franchise and was one of the investors in the program’s first seasons Shark Tank Brazilgave a lecture again last Friday, the 28th.
In 2019, he suffered a motorcycle accident that left motor and speech problems. Because of the incident, Shiba spent six years away from the media and major interactions with the public.
Shiba uses AI to deliver speeches
In the presentation, Shiba communicated through a technological device that generates what he writes by simulating his voice via artificial intelligence. “Being able to be back and here speaking is by far one of the best feelings of my life”, he stated during the Brazilian Congress of Speech Therapy.
“Thank you to the entire team that is by my side, family and friends. Ubuntu is a philosophy that I take into my life and, after the accident, it started to make even more sense. I am who we are. May we continue making a difference in people’s lives and letting them make a difference in ours. I thank all of you who made this moment possible. I hope I served as an inspiration. Believe in yourself”, he commented, at another point in the event shared on his Instagram stories.
Robinson Shiba also announced that he will appear in the next episode of Shark Tank Brazilwhich should air on YouTube next Monday, the 1st. He was part of the fixed cast of investors in the first four seasons of the program, between 2016 and 2019.
Robinson Shiba has faced health problems, including cardiac arrest, since he suffered a motorcycle accident on February 18, 2019. For two years and three months, he ‘disappeared’ from his social networks. He returned in sporadic posts starting in 2021, when he showed part of his progress.

In an interview with Uol In September 2021, Marcia Shiba, his wife, reported that he was in an induced coma during his three-month stay in the hospital. He then spent about a year and a half in a rehab facility before he was able to return home. According to her, her husband “understands when people talk to him and his memory has not been affected”. Communication, however, was limited to a few sounds, looks and pointing movements.
“The long period of tracheostomy and the lack of speech hampered his food intake. But he can communicate through sounds. He also doesn’t have any blocked senses. He can move any part of his body, but the accident caused a very serious head injury on the left side, which compromised much of his motor coordination,” he said.
