19-year-old dies at zoo in Brazil after breaking into lioness cage

The incident is already being investigated but everything points to the young man having intentionally invaded the cage. He ended up being attacked by a lioness and did not survive his injuries.

A 19-year-old man was attacked by a lioness at the Paraíba zoo, in Brazil. The victim will have intentionally climbed a wall of more than six meters to enter the cage, where the animal was and ended up being attacked.

The incident happened at a time when there were several visitors at the scene who ended up recording the moment.

After the attack, the park was closed and visits were suspended until the investigation was completed.

According to Brazilian authorities, the young man suffered from psychological disorders.

“Although the security teams tried to prevent the action, the man acted quickly to access the enclosure and died as a result of the injuries caused by the animal. The city hall sympathizes with the victim’s family and clarifies that, despite all existing security, which meets technical standards, the man insisted on the invasion, culminating in this regrettable episode”, reads the note that is being cited by several Brazilian media outlets.
