Average fabric softener it contains a lot of chemical ingredients that make things soft and smell good, but also stay on them for a long time.

It is worth preparing their home equivalent, which will be cheaper and more ecological, and at the same time safer for the skin. How to make it?

Store-bought fabric softeners contain many chemical substances that may irritate sensitive skin. It is worth giving them up, especially if allergy sufferers or small children live in the house. However, everyone would like it to smell fresh and be soft. Fortunately, we can prepare our own homemade fabric softener using the selected essential oil – so our clothes or towels will smell the way we want them to.

It is worth choosing a similar, home-made product if we care about the natural environment. Store-bought liquids often contain substances that are harmful to nature. Additionally, we do not pollute the planet with more plastic packaging. Homemade fabric softener can be used immediately or placed, for example, in a bottle.

Our wallet will certainly also feel relief. Natural fabric softener is a much cheaper alternative to the store equivalent.

Home it’s not difficult to make. All you need is water, citric acid and the selected essential oil. Mix half a liter of boiled water with one teaspoon of citric acid and 15 drops of oil. This will create a mixture with a delicate scent that will transfer to the items rinsed in it. You need to use 100 ml of the finished product for each washing cycle.

There is another method – you can use sea salt and baking soda. They should be mixed with water and essential oil in appropriate proportions. Add half a glass of baking soda to two glasses of sea salt dissolved in 400 ml of hot water. Add 25 drops of essential oil.

It is important that the salt dissolves in water first. Before adding baking soda and essential oil, the water and salt must cool down. This will create a fabric softener with a strong scent and excellent durability. There will be enough of it to last for several months – depending on the frequency of washing.
