Government rescues “Ministry of Dating” and launches fictional programs on the networks

The federal government once again brought to life the imaginary “Ministry of Dating”, a recurring joke by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) since the 2022 campaign.

This Sunday (31), the Department of Communication published on social media a series of cards presenting fictitious social programs created for those who, according to the post, are tired of meetings without a future.

The action was called If the Ministry of Dating existed and brought together six humorous proposals. Among them, the “Bolsa Namoro”, described as a monthly incentive to stimulate relationships “for two”, the “Par-de-Jarro”, which would offer matching clothes for couples who like to wear the same style, and the “ProNamoro”, aimed at those who wish to “graduate in the field of love”.

Also presented were “Mais Namoro”, which would help confused people to finally start a relationship, “Dating for Everyone”, aimed at transforming promising contacts into something serious, and “Farmácia do Namoro”, a fun answer to elbow pains.

The joke is not new. The idea of the “ministry” has been circulating since Lula declared, in 2022, on the podcast Flowthat “a man without love is nothing” and that, if it were up to him, “everyone would date”. The speech became a meme and generated good-natured demands from internet users for the folder to be created.

The president resumed the joke in early 2023, during a meeting with influencers. That day, he kissed First Lady Janja and said that the supposed ministry would wait until after Carnival.

In June of the same year, on Valentine’s Day, he apologized to journalists for disturbing any romantic lunches before a ceremony at Palácio do Planalto and joked again that he had not yet managed to create “the Ministry of Valentine”.

The campaign released now takes up the president’s game, as he continues to seek to improve his popularity and uses social media to get closer to younger voters.
