Maduro denies escape rumors during event in Caracas

President of Venezuela attended event in Caracas after 4 days without being seen, amid tensions with the USA and reports of escape from the country

The President of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro (PSUV, left), made one on Sunday (30.Nov.2025), during the 4th International Special Coffee Meeting of Venezuela 2025, in Caracas, the country’s capital. The Venezuelan leader denied speculation that he had left the country amid growing tensions with the United States, which increased its military presence in the Caribbean.

At the event held in the east of the Venezuelan capital, the president participated in the ceremony, handing out medals to producers and trying different coffees. At the end of the award ceremony, he stated that Venezuela is “indestructible, untouchable and unbeatable”. He had not been seen since Wednesday (26.Nov.2025), when he published a video in which he was driving through the streets of Caracas and said that “everything is normal”.

The appearance comes days after the US government, administered by the president (Republican Party), announced that ground offensives on Venezuelan territory will be carried out “very soon”. The leaders had previously held a meeting on November 22 to address the growing tensions. At the time, it was a face-to-face meeting.

Days later, a decree was issued considering the Cartel de los Soles – a network of Venezuelan military and authorities accused of involvement in drug trafficking by the Americans –, a “foreign terrorist organization“.

Furthermore, Trump declared on Saturday (Nov 29), 1 day before Maduro’s public appearance, that airlines should consider the airspace above and around Venezuela closed.

“To all airlines, pilots, drug traffickers and human traffickers, please consider THE AIRSPACE ABOVE AND AROUND VENEZUELA TO BE COMPLETELY CLOSED. Thank you for your attention!”, .

Until this Monday (1st.Dec), the USA already had at least 16 vessels in the Caribbean and Pacific Sea and the aircraft carrier Gerald R. Ford in the region, as a way of putting pressure on the Venezuelan regime.
