Porto, Braga and Viana do Castelo are under yellow warning this Monday due to heavy rain, according to the IPMA, which also placed seven districts of mainland Portugal under orange warning, starting on Tuesday, due to sea unrest.

Therefore, Porto, Braga and Viana do Castelo will be under yellow warning, between 18:00 and 21:00 this Monday, sometimes strong, according to the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA).

The orange warnings issued by IPMA refer to the districts of Porto, Viana do Castelo, Lisbon, Leiria, Aveiro, Coimbra and Braga due to , with waves from the northwest with a significant height of five to six meters, reaching a maximum height of 11 meters.

The warnings in these seven districts are in effect between 6pm on Tuesday and 3pm on Wednesday.

The whole coast of mainland Portugal will be under yellow warning due to sea unrest from 12:00 on Tuesday, lasting until 03:00 on Wednesday, taking into account the forecast of waves from the northwest with four to five meters.

The districts of Guarda and Castelo Branco will be under yellow warning due to , with the IPMA predicting snowfall with accumulation above 1,600 meters, which could be 10 cm in Torre.

The institute also explains how likely impacts: disturbance caused by snowfall with accumulation and possible formation of ice, for example, roads conditioned or closed, damage to structures or trees, local supplies impaired.

This warning in these two districts in the northern interior will be in force between 00:00 on Tuesday and 00:00 on Wednesday.

The orange warning is issued by IPMA whenever there is a “moderate to high risk meteorological situation”, and yellow, when there is a risk situation for certain activities dependent on the meteorological situation.
